The white whales have the capacity to dive to a depth of 1300 to 2100 feet. At the time of hunting for food they can dive for up to15 minutes.  The muscular flap which covers the single blow hole of the white whale is contracted at the time of opening of the blow hole for spouting and breathing.

The white whales are slow in swimming having the capacity of swimming 3 to 9 kph. But in short burst their speed increases up to 22 kph for 15 minutes. The voice of these whales is so noisy that it can be easily distinguished even while being above water levels.

They use this voice in communicating wit other whales. The voice varies in types like clicks, whistles, squeals etc. At the time of making noise the shape of fatty changes shape. The Arctic habitat of these white whales overlaps with the habitat of the narwhal. They migrate to the south for warm water during the winter season.
They sometimes head to salty waters where rivers and seas meet. It is also to be noted that white whales may sometimes migrate with other types of whales. White female whales take up to 15 month to give birth to their babies. The baby is born in the warm surface or in thin waters with head or tail first.

Directly after being born, and with the help of their mother, the babies go up in order to take their first ever breath of fresh air. Normally they give birth to the single ones where as the twins are rare. It takes 6 years to be white in color as the pigment fades slowly.
The milk of the mother is almost 30% fat-laden and fed to the calves up to 12 to 24 months. It takes 7 to 9 years to the calves to reach the maturity level.
